Any last remaining hope that the government had of clinching a supermajority in Thursday’s vote on the new electoral law was extinguished on Tuesday when Golden Dawn said it would not take part in the ballot.
Until Wednesday, the far right party had not made its position clear even though the proportional representation system proposed by the government would appear to favour Golden Dawn and other smaller parties as they would gain more seats in Parliament.
